Home > AMP Sessions

SAVE Program caters to under-served youth in grades 3-8 that reside in the Greater Omaha Area.

Currently, over 200 children participate in our weekly Academic Mentoring Program (AMP). Students are transported from local partner schools to their paired university and back.

During the AMP sessions, students are able to complete homework, work on other provided curriculum, and get help from tutors at the universities. These sessions have helped to increase participants’ GPAs and provide a space to thrive with school work.

Thanks to our partnerships with the Intercultural Affairs Departments at Creighton University, Bellevue University, University of Nebraska Omaha, and Metro Community College we are able to provide these AMP sessions on a weekly basis.

Our Partnerships

Creighton University, Bellevue University, University of Nebraska Omaha

     and Metro Community College

Unlike any other organization, we bring children onto university campuses as a part of our Academic Mentoring Program. Since 2010, SAVE has partnered with Creighton University’s Intercultural Affairs Department in order to set up each participant with an individual tutor, committed to being there every other week to monitor that child’s needs.  In January 2015, SAVE launched it’s partnership with the University of Nebraska Omaha’s Office of Multicultural Affairs. Starting in September 2016, SAVE joined efforts with Bellevue University in order to serve additional youth in the area. Starting in Fall 2018 SAVE partnered with Metro Community College to provide further opportunities for our students to learn about the different options available to them after high school.

     Elementary Schools

Youth enrolled in the SAVE Program fall within the 3rd-8th grade levels. SAVE partners with various schools based on need, interest, location and a variety of additional factors. Currently, SAVE is partnered with the following schools:

  • All Saints Catholic School
  • Birchcrest Elementary
  • Gateway Elementary
  • Highland Elementary
  • Norris Elementary
  • Sacred Heart Catholic School
  • Sandoz Elementary
  • Wake Robin Elementary

     Community

  • Completely Kids
  • Foodbank for the Heartland

Not only does SAVE Program focus on education, but we also pair education with extracurricular activities.

The opportunity to participate in an extracurricular activity is the primary initiative SAVE uses to encourage active involvement in a child’s education and community.  By creating a connection between academic success and extracurricular activity support, our programming helps kids reach their potential both in and out of the classroom. This mutually beneficial programming style makes it easy for participants to see how one element aids the other in their success.
