Academic Mentoring Program
Our Elementary Program
We know that young first-generation college students need to have hands-on experiences with college campuses for college to be a potential future path.
This is what started it all: the simple idea to take underserved youth to college campuses for mentorship, tutoring, and inspiration.
During AMP, students are transported from their elementary schools to either Bellevue University, Creighton University, Metropolitan Community College, or University of Nebraska-Omaha, where they engage in immersive hands-on activities rooted in future-readiness and mentorship from college students. This unique curriculum is designed to broaden students' perspectives by fostering curiosity, self-discovery, and informed decision-making.
Throughout the program year, our students visit college sites sixteen times and have the chance to delve into various aspects of college life, from exploring dormitories and classrooms to gaining insights from university professors and departments, in addition to developing positive and inspiring relationships with their mentors, who are all college students or college faculty.
